MY JOURNEY TO CTS

Yup, Being a cognizant-ian is not one of my dream. But it happened on the holy occasion of feb 5, 2011.My dream has not come true, but wat I have got is more than I have dreamed about [as always :)]

It was a normal day when I received my call letter for an aptitude test for CTS at S.A engineering college, Avadi on January 30,Sunday. I was among the first batch in the morning sesstion. It was just a test comprising of vocabulary and reasoning sections. It was just an easy one for me and I was sure that I would clear it. On February 3rd I receieved a mail that I cleared the test and I was asked to attend the second and the last round at MEPZ,Chennai on February 5th. I am not surprised but I was a little bit happy and a little bit nervous about the technical interview, coz I am not that much technically good.

MEPZ:(where I attended the interview)

On the D-day,February 5,2011(Saturday), I started from my home at 9.30 and reached the destination at 10.00 A.M. The interview was scheduled at 11.00 AM. I was a little bit nervous on seeing the interviewees preparing for the interview. I duno anything technically and hence I gone through only theorotical concepts of all the languages. But the guys over there was completely immersed in reading all the programes. I was terribly tensed as I dont even have anything to prepare for the technical questions and programes. I was preparing only for the HR interview. Later to dissipate my heat I started some conversation with my neighbours and got relaxed.

At 1100 hours I was called inside and was asked to wait in the auditorium. Then they let us in batches and I was among the last batches for the GD round. I was waiting for my first round i.e GD with my batch mates. GD began with not much hiccups. I talked about "India wil win the World cup". I was not satisfied with my performance. Then the HR announced the results saying that one person was not able make it to the second round. Happily, I am not the one. Then I was waiting for the second round which is technical round. I know that I am not technically strong and hence I was a little bit nervous. I was asked to enter the room where the second round is taking place.

I entered with a little bit confidence in my mind. The round started with a basic question "Tell me about yourself". I answered it without any strain. Then technical questions were asked and I tried to answer all the questions. But I was not able to give real time example for some concepts. So I got a feedback from my tech HR that I am good only in theortical concepts and practically I am not good. I was worried coz of that and expected a negative result and prepared my mind for anything. But I thought 75% I am outa cognizant.

Then the results were read sayiing that the read list is a list containing the rejected ppl. To my dismay, my name is read by the guy who is reading it. Ya, its my name but its not me. I confirmed it by the date of birth. Then again another list containing the selected guys were read and of course, my name was there. I was really happy and was sure that I will be selected for the job. Everyone was talking that once we are through the second round, then the job is confirmed. So I was confident that I wil get the job and enter the HR round.

As usual the first question was "Can I know about you?". I answered in a very casual manner with atmost confidence. Then I was asked to give the marksheets. After seeing it he asked about the declination in my marks from my 10th standard to 12th standard. I tried to manage it but I am not satisfied with my answer. Then he asked about my resume and after seeing it he asked me about my hobby, i.e watching movies. He asked about the latest movie I saw. I answered "Pink Panther" [cool..I know what you are thinking :)] He asked whether its the movie which had Aishwarya bachan..whether i saw it in dvd or tv..like that. I answered everything. Then at last he said one thing. "ok Surendar thank you. WE WILL BE STAYING IN TOUCH"

Those are the lines which made sure that I will be selected for the job. But still I was not satisfied by own performance and I was expecting for any result.

Later on February 8th I received my mail quoting that I was selected for the job. Yup, Now I am part of CTS, one of the world's best company to work with. As always, I know it happend only coz of God and of course my hardwork. And luck has nothing to do with this job.

RESERVATIONS

It sounds to be the most brittle topic and creates a red-hot rapport across our country now and then.

What is reservation as far as India is concerned ??
Some x% for the forwards and some y% for the backwards...sounds any meaning ??
Forward doesn't mean they are economically forward and Backward doesn't mean they are in the BPL(Below Poverty Line). So, a student who has scored a 90% aggregate will get the seat in one of the most top-notch institution. And if he/she supposed to get a 50% he still has the option to choose a similar kind of college via management seat. But it purely depends on the economic background of the candidate. So why making the reservations based on the caste/community.

The government can choose the family income or the financial status and take it as a medium to categorize the students.

I dont think that still the backward people are in the BPL. Even if they are in that level, by my proposed scheme they would get benefited. Why a backward student has to get a seat which can be filled by the candidate via management (if its affordable by them), when a deserving candidate who is economically weak (even though he is forward caste) misses that free seat. Also, a student who gets a less mark is able to get a top level college, just because the candidate is from a backward category. I dont think its a healthy one.

The present reservation system are depending only on the caste/community and not their financial status. A student if economically strong means, its possible to get a management seat, but if its the other way means, he/she will miss the seat even though he/she has scored a higher mark.

Also what is the plight of the backward people. Most of the forward people are mostly jealous of this and some may even ill treat the backwards because of this.

So, the government can take steps to make this get implemented, even though its really hard to implement, because the present system is being followed for many years. So, it would be definitely hard to implement it. But hope there is someone who thinks about it and tries to invoke it.

P.S:I am not saying to take away the rights from the backward community. But they can choose a management seat in a top level college if its affordable. Also, the ideas expressed are mine and its not meant to hurt anyone. And I apologize, if suppose it hurts anyone.

MY EXPERIENCE IN 18 A

This happened duing my 1st year, when I was attending the Inplant training held at HSL,near LIC, Chennai. It was nearly 3 years back when katipara bridge was nearing completion and hence the journey of 18-A double decker bus, the one of its kind in chennai is going to end.

Little biography:

NAME:18-A

ROUTE: TAMBARAM TO PARRYS

TYPE: DOUBLE DECKER

PHOTO:

I was traveling on the top of the world.I was in a double-decker bus, one of the ten of its kind in Chennai. Since the bus is starting from Tambaram, and me alighting the bus at Pallavaram, the bus would be nearly half full and mostly the top deck would be full. Hence I would go to Tambaram BS itself. As the bus rolls out of the terminus almost empty, I would choose where to sit. I will go for the front row of the upper deck, with a well-satisfied smile.

When the bus stops at Simpson (my destination),I have to leave the bus heavy heartedly. After attending the training I would not hesitate to go to the final point (Parrys), so that the saga, when I started from Tambaram, still continue.
I was taking the class for seven days and the whole structure of my travel didn't change a bit. Once the classes are over I really missed the fun I had during the course of that week.

This bus travel would make my eyes look at things which are earlier hidden by buildings and even compound walls which are nearly six feet high. At Meenambakkam Airport, I can get a glimpse of the runway with planes ready for take-off. I can see the complete outline of Siddha hospital, Tambaram Sanatorium. But now-a-days this work is done by the fly-over in meenambakkam, which sometimes looks like a tourist spot for the people. They would get out of their vehicles and try to get a glimpse of the airport.

This looks really silly, but the fact is everyone has a small child holding tight inside the heart. When the time comes, it would come to light. After all, what's life without fun and just living with a mask owing to the society's comments. Let's enjoy our life on our own way !!!!!
