VILLU PREVIEW:
Cast: "Ilaya Thalabadhy" Vijay, Nayanthara
Direction: Prabhu Deva
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Production: Ayngaran International
After the mega flop of A.T.M and Kuruvi(among his fans), Vijay returns with his next venture "VILLU". Formula movies are making it big at the box-office and which is the success mantra for Vijay movies. You know the formula?. It's simple: "Remake a movie which is a mega-hit in Telugu". Mr.Vijay follows it perfectly and this time he teams up with Prabhu Deva again after POKIRI. Villu is the remake of the 1998 bollywood block buster SOLDIER starring Bobby Deol.
Coming to the story of the movie, the actor has risked himself again by doing dual roles(father and son). As said by the P.R.O's, the movie has the stuff that every fan of vijay expects: Punch lines, stunts, foot-tapping songs, etc. The Actor when asked about the movie says "It would be two-and-half-hours of fun-filled action. There is no lagging moment as the movie moves to different planes without a hitch. All credits should go to Prabhudeva", and adds, 'the scenes involving Nayanthara, myself and Vadivelu is sure to bring the roof down with laughter'.
The music composition by Devi Sri Prasad is already topping the charts, though some songs look inspired from Vijay's last movies. The comedy track is handled by Vadivelu, who is a master of creating laughter at every moment. So, it's a big positive aspect of the film.
Whatever it may be, its going to be a pongal extravaganza for Vijay fans as they get much more than they expect from a Vijay movie. This is one of the big-budgeted movies of Ayngaran International and it would definitely be a hit.
VILLU REVIEW:
CAST: Vijay, Nayanthara, Prakash Raj.
DIRECTOR: Prabhu Deva
MUSIC:Devi Sri Prasad
The film opens with an old MGR number making the audience to catch edge of the seat and watch the successive frames. The hero also tries to say some messages. The film begins with a mix of action, romance and humor, much similar to the hero's earlier ventures.
The story is simple: The POLICE are in the lookout for two underworld dons, for which the hero gives the succor. The reason for the hero's involvement in the search for the dons is revealed in a flashback.
Prakash Raj plays the don role and by doing so he throws the magic spell on the audience. Nayanthara plays the role of his daughter. The reason: It's the duty of the heroine to be the daughter of a don in the world of Tamil cinema.
Vijay, as usual excels in dance. And this time he again proves he is the best among the Tamil heroes. In every song sequence, he rules the screen with his footsteps. At some frames, even though the choreography is less intense, it gets elevated by VIJAY's footwork. The hero gives more justice to the choreography work.
Worried why am I stressing on the hero's dance. Because, that's the only positive aspect he has.
The first half of the movie is really racy and a perfect combination of the typical-vijay stuff. But the later part is really a perfect screw-up. The way the flash back is narrated is one of the most ludicrous sequence. The director must have concentrated on that part more.
Vadivelu, as usual excels in creating laughter. The hero too tries in evoking some with vadivelu. The sad part is that, he only tries to do so. Every one could have noticed that some sequence resembles the mega-hit venture of AJITH's BILLA. Come on guys, accept the truth.
The music is by Devi sri prasad, which is already ("said to be") a chart buster. Three songs looks similar to vijay's earlier numbers. But it will definitely make the audience tap their foot. Because they are VIJAY's fans.
With an excellent team work and the hype created, the director should have used it in a positive way. But he lavishly flogged it.
My sincere advice:Watch the movie at your own financial-risk.Even when you take the risk, make sure you are out of the theater once the screen reads INTERMISSION.Planning for a date? If you choose this movie, then it will be the last date with your loved-one.
